I have my hubby home for two weeks....both a blessing and a curse....we have house stuff to work on and he will be doing most of the work {the blessing} and we have house stuff to work on {the curse}!!!
So to prepare, I spent ALL of yesterday cleaning my closet....and once you start one closet you have to clean others! So I cleaned closets, and organized my stash {WHEW!}
Today I was able to get a little sewing done....
I am working on the last block for the New York Beauty Quilt....
Now trying to decide on the style of border. I love piano key borders, but I do those quite a bit. So I am thinking of a half drop diamond border....we will see. What kind of border do you like? Or no border at all? Would love to hear your thoughts on borders.
I want to finish this one....I am itching to do another Material Obsession Quilt :)
Hope you are having a Wonderful Wednesday!

I love the color combo of this last one you are working on....can't wait to see them altogether. I just saw a quilt on Flickr with NYB style blocks put on point and then the triangles around the edges were various colors creating a sort of border. There was piano key type sashing between the blocks. One thing I know, you can't go wrong with the great blocks you have made. Happy house stuff!! (Oh my, do I need to clean my closet!)
ReplyDeleteI liked pieced borders. Don't know which one is my favorite. Your block is lovely. Congrats on being spotlighted. You so deserve it.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the NY Beauty quilt. It will be spectacular! A great border for this would be these sharp points in your block - but you would really have to like making them to make a border....? Or check out this blog, he collects traditional NY Beauty quilts: http://willywonkyquilts.blogspot.com/ Stunning!
ReplyDeleteWhatever you choose for your sashing/borders will be fabulous! Good luck with the house chores! I hope you manage to get some sewing done too! And of course we'll visit the Block Party! What fun!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors. By chance Barbara Brackman had a post today on Snakes. :) Okay, so not real snakes but what if you repeated just the first section of the New York Beauty and flip/flopped them around the edge to look like a snake. It would even turn the corner I think. Might work. See: http://barbarabrackman.blogspot.com/2011/04/snakes.html
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for this New York Beauty--it has so inspired me. Hope I can do something with that inspiration now!! Good luck on borders...waiting to see what you come up with.
ReplyDeleteMary
i know the quilt i want you to do from material obsession 2! i even know where to buy the main fabric for it! it is just too hard for me but i know you can do it!
ReplyDeleteLOL!!! Leslie....I am curious....what is it? The Lone Star? I want to do them all - it is just unfortunate that I have to sleep....and clean....and cook dinner....and shower....yikes!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to have you participate in the Blog Party next week! Thanks for sending some folks my way too.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you do from MO2. I have the first book and enjoy it.
And I know what you mean about cleaning out closets- once I get started, I want to clean out everything. It is such a good feeling!
The blogger party sounds like fun. I have a hard time with borders for pieced quilts. I've done two NYB and if I were to do another, I'd hit the google button, lol.
