When I began this blog, July 18th. 2010, my intention was to develop another way to communicate or reinforce techniques practiced in my classes.
It became so much more...
Because of the blog I have met a few friends {in person} that I knew only through comments and emails....
And I have made some very good friends of the bloggy sort - and HOPE, HOPE someday to meet them in person...
It has truly been fun!
And this week, this little blog surpassed 1000 followers. Pinch me!
I am shocked and thrilled at the same time. I appreciate every single comment I receive and I try my best to answer them all {when the no-reply blogger function doesn't get in the way}
I want to thank each and every one of you for visiting Molly Flanders. I have only tried to share my passion for quilting and build a network of friends that inspire me everyday!!!
So to say Thank You I will have a little giveaway...
I will be giving away this little mini quilt....
I haven't done many giveaways...this may be number three....so I thought something made by me might be fun....
The wee flying geese quilt measures just 15" X 18" - so a great dolly size or even for a table top.
And then to sweeten the pot....I have a charm pack and a little pincushion....
Aneela Hoey's Sew Stitchy!!! So Cute!!!!
Thank you all for stopping by often.
It has been a difficult year and I did have emails and comments that helped me deal with the loss of my mom.
Thanks for the LOVE...
As you know...I love hand quilting with perle cotton. So leave me a comment and tell me if you have tried quilting with perle cotton or if you plan to give it a go. I would love to know how you like hand quilting with perle!!!
I will randomly choose a winner on Sunday, July 15th. at about 1:00 pm Ohio Time!!!
Big Hugs!
mary
hi mary-
ReplyDeletethank you for all the beautiful inspiration you share! what a lovely give-away!
best,
sarah
mary! you are too sweet! congrats on reaching 1,000!!
ReplyDeleteYou started blogging the day after my 40th birthday--and I think i found you almost right away! Your blog always brings a smile to my face, even if it's just because of the bright colors in whatever photo you posted that day.
ReplyDeleteI do have Perle cotton with the intention of trying it for quilting, but have yet to actually set aside the time to do it.
Congrats on your milestone!
I love your blog. I would love to try perle cotton but it's very hard to find around here. Where do you get most of yours from? Thanks
ReplyDeleteI just love when I visit you - you have a great blog and I just love this giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI've never quilted with perle cotton before this month began but I'm taking the Handstitched class from Rachel from Stitched in Color, and she has us using it. I'm really enjoying it!
ReplyDeleteI did a hand-stitched quilt along this winter and the next step is to hand quilt it! I picked up some perle cotton so I am ready to try it! We'll see how it goes!
ReplyDeleteI have not tried it yet - BUT - your quilts are so inspiring I know that one day I will!
ReplyDeleteI haven't used perle cotton yet because I'm intimidated by hand quilting. I'm also afraid of binding, which is why I haven't put it on the quilt I made in your class last fall! I need to get that done before the baby comes.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the work you post. If I was lucky enough to win, I'd hang the mini quilt in the nursery.
I haven't actually used perle yet but I have bought some!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't used pearl cotton in quilting except to tie a quilt. But I do use embroidery thread, mostly because I have it around the house. Congrats on the blog and thank you for the giveaway
ReplyDeleteI love your blog - so much fun inspiration! I've never quilted with perle cotton. Actually I've never hand quilted at all, but I do want to try someday soon. I even have some likely projects lined up. It's just hard to make the leap to something new. That's very bad of me. :(
ReplyDelete1,000 followers...wow...congrats!!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried hand quilting yet, but am inspired to just by seeing your beautiful work! Thanks for the sweet giveaway!
mary, i love your work! thanks so much for sharing it with us. i have some beautiful old fabric scraps from my grandmother (she's 97, and i think some of this fabric is nearly as old!) that i'd love to make into a quilt, and quilt with your perle cotton technique.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 1000 followers, though it's not surprising at all. Your giveaway mini is gorgeous, it's so you! I love quilting in perle, in my first year of quilting I had more time and hand quilted a couple of quilts perle, even after I'd done a quilting work shop with a teacher who insisted that you'd never use perle on a serious quilt. I love that it adds colour and detail.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I just love reading your blog. I am in the process of hand quilting a quilt for my niece Florences 1st birthday. This is the second one I have done with perle cotton and I'm hooked. I enjoy the satisfaction I get from completing the whole quilt myself rather than sending them to be machine quilted.
ReplyDeleteFiona in NZ.
1000 followers.....awesome....I have quilted a couple of quilts using pearl cotton........love it....it's so much easier......I read once that it's called school house quilting......anyway congrat's
ReplyDeletecongratulations on 1000 followers! it is a testimony to how inspiring your blog is :) I have done some small quilted projects with perle cotton, but never attempted a bed sized quilt with it. I love using perle cotton for embroidery as well, much preferred to separating strands of floww :) thank you for the wonderful chance to have something you made!
ReplyDeleteSeeing your gorgeous work certainly makes me want to try, and thanks to your blog, I have plenty of tips on how to do it. What a kind, generous blogger you are! Congratulations & best regards!
ReplyDeleteOh Mary, what a lovely giveaway. I have just tried quilting with Presencia Perle cotton for the first time. Unfortunately it is really hard on my slightly arthritic fingers... but I just LOVE the look and will keep on trying.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and best regards!
What a fun giveaway! Congratulations on the blog success! I've been enjoying it. I have done some hand quilting with perle cotton. I really love the way it pops out at you.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Mary! I am newish to loving your blog but have fallen hard for your delightful style! I love quilting with Presencia 12 and amassed a small hoard of colors. I love to use multiple colors in one project. Well, not in every project... Anyway, yes, my thumb gets a little sore when quilting with perle cotton but it's worth it. Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteMary, what a sweet give away! I just purchased my first few colors of Perle cotton about a month ago. I'm anxious to use it very soon.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog & that picture on your header is divine! I am a chicken & have yet to try hand quilting. I need a small project & big courage to try it!! You are crazy talented, thank you for your help!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, you have 1000 followers because your blog is so good. I am a quilting virgin! Hope to have a go very soon! Ada :)
ReplyDeleteMary! You are still my favorite, your quilts are always so amazing, and you're the best teacher. I need to stop in & say hello! I miss you. Hand quilting still freaks me out a bit (no stabby!) but perle is very nice.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you started blogging. I always find this an inspiring place to visit. I haven't yet used perle cotton for quilting, and the only hand quilting I've done is a 12inch square mini. I do hope to try it one day though, when I make the right quilt. I love the look of it.
ReplyDeleteYour little flying geese quilt is so lovely, it would be such an amazing treat to win in.
Your work has really inspired me. I even purchased several colors of Perle cotton. I have not tried it for fear of messing up. I need to just take the plunge. Would love to win your beautiful mini quilt, maybe I could study it closely before I start.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you started blogging--I love the way you stay true to your inner artist--you're always a breath of fresh air! No, I haven't hand quilted in many, many years. I will say, however, that I really like it when you do!
ReplyDeleteI love quilting with perle - the colours are so fantastic and the sheen of the thread is lovely. Congrats on the 1000 followers!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all - I love your blog and all the inspiration I find here. Second, I actually just used perle cotton yesterday to hand quilt a little pillow I blogged about last night. Love your mini.
ReplyDeleteLovely little quilt, i have NOT even tried hand quilting (yet!) Someday soon!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on over 1000 followers! Quite the milestone!
{And I'm in Ohio too! Near columbus, to be exact! Yay}
Congratulations to you Mary. Your blog is beautiful and I can see why you have passed the 1000 followers mark. I think I found you last year and went back to the very beginning to see all of your inspiring quilts and read all that you share. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteoh, I have used pearl cotton... but with machine quilting. I'm afraid to slow down:)
That is so beautiful! I haven't tried quilting with perle cotton yet. A few months ago, I tried hand quilting with colored threads and I have decided the next project will have to be done with perle cotton thread. I wish the quilting would have stood out more. I enjoyed the process of hand quilting, though.
ReplyDeleteMary your hand stitching always inspires me to hand quilt !!
ReplyDeleteMy goal is that one day I'll do a whole quilt .
One day , that is , when I get a whole lot more patience :)
The mini quilt is divine !
I love all your quilts-the colors, designs and pearle hand quilting. I tried it on my last quilt, and enjoyed the process. I was learning as I went so it is uneven and imperfect in the extreme. But I'm happy with it.

ReplyDeletelovely little quilt! I have quilted with perle cotton and I found the hardest part is figuring out the right needle -- one with an eye big enough to thread, but not too big to get through the quilt layers. I think I used a chenille needle. great giveaway. congrats on the four figure followers.
ReplyDeleteHELLO! Just finished a small project for a Christmas ornament in Anchor perle>I loved how it handled and looked! Using one strand is SO nice! I want to use perle for all my Redwork! Do you know if there are glossier or silkier-looking perle cottons out there?
ReplyDeleteThanks for a beautiful+generous Giveaway!
msstitcher1948@yahoo.com
I tried it recently on a hand-pieced hexy quilt & I really loved it. It went quickly & love the look. I also felt it was good & strong & won't come undone. I've always steered away from hand-quilting with thread because I was afraid it would break
ReplyDeleteWow! 1,000! I can only imagine! I have 15. Congrats on that great milestone! What a fun giveaway to celebrate! I haven't hand quilted a quilt in years but I like the idea of quilting with perle.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and all the beautiful things you make! Your giveaway is so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is always so inspirational and pretty... such a happy place to visit.... I have only done a little handquilting and have used Perle for that.... in cream... I need to get bold and use some colour...
ReplyDeleteHugz

Congrats on hitting the 1000! Yay to you lovely lady xxx
I find myself looking at your projects over and over again. AND you inspired me...I have been quilting with perle cotton because of you! I love it! I was originally hand quilter, back in the '80ies...always going for those tiny, tiny stitches. Your quilting with perle cotton drew me in. I'm back to doing some hand quilting again...I adore the look! Thank you! Toni
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on having over 1000 followers. I can understand why. There is always something lovely to see.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 1000 quite the milestone indeed!
ReplyDeleteI love a bit of hand quilting especially with perle cottons :)
Your blog is very inspiring.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried quilting with perle cotton yet....but I know I will someday.
Thanks for the chance to win.
ooh Mary it's just darling.
ReplyDeleteI love your whimsy.
what a sweet giveaway.
I have been reading your blog for almost a year now and really enjoy all your projects! Congrats on so many followers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway!
Wow the quilt is just so fun but to throw bonuses in there too. So sweet of you. I have tried big stitch quilting. Your site and a quilt along I got involved in got me to try it. Love the look. I do not have much perle cotton so for now I use my mondo stash of DMC floss.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on reaching 100followers...we come to be inspired and share a corner of your world! Perle cotton is fun to quilt with...I sometimes use Perle 12 for finer projects too!
ReplyDeletecongrats on your milestone...and thank you for the inspiration! i'm going to attempt hand quilting for the first time very soon on a project for the iowa state fair...i'll be using perle cotton...i'm nervous and excited at the same time!
ReplyDeleteI just did some hand stitching on a cushion cover but have yet to tackle an actual quilt!! Too scared! I do like to embroider with perle though.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd about faint if I received something you had made, precious indeed.
Sending more love :) x
Your fan base continues to grow...(1)007 as of last count! Your work and generosity are what we love about you Mary! The mini is very sweet! How did you know I was binding my latest quilt in green check?! Snap! The white plate is beautiful too!
ReplyDeletePerle cotton I have done 2 quilts with hand stitching and perle cotton. The first was the quilt I made for my daughter and son-in-law from their wedding linens and the other was a quilt I made for a friend and sorority sister of my other daughter. the second quilt is a tulip quilt that I loved the first tome I made the pattern, liked the second time, and this quilt was the third time so hand quilting was how I made it different. By the way, a note on your blog about perle cotton is the reason I chose it for the hand quilting.
ReplyDeleteOh my what a super giveaway, and how exciting to reach 1000 Followers. I am still hoping to reach 100! I am planning on trying quilting with perle cotton on a little quilt that I made at our home in Florida. I hope to get there on August and can't wat to see how it goes.
ReplyDeleteI bought some perle cotton at the Fashion and Embroidery show in the NEC in March and I have two needlecases to make for swaps on which I'm going to use them.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, Mary. Here's to your continued success!
ReplyDeleteYou share your talents and inspirations so sweetly! And now a give-away of your own handiwork, wow! Love the sweet little flying geese in the mini quilt, and the cheerful pincushion! Inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI have not yet used perle cotton, but I'm working up the courage to give it a try! Maybe on that sweet AH charm pack!
I came to your blog via the Rose Star Block Party - but joined because of the hand stitching with perle cotton. I have stitched a few projects with perle - it is sometimes the exact right thing to do! Congrats on your big number!
ReplyDeleteLove the blog and LOVE the little mini quilt! I had never tried quilting with perle before, but I just started on a quilt a few days ago (with inspiration from your blog!). I am just quilting the 'focus' parts of the quilt (the rest I quilted on my sewing machine), but it's sure giving the quilt a whole new look! I love the big chunky stitches and love the perle!
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog and seeing all your gorgeous creations. My Pyramid quilt was inspired by YOU! I've also recently tried quilting with Perle cotton and love it. If fact today someone at our guild was asking me about it. They should have been asking you. You're a pro.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your blog Mary! All of your posts are so inspirational and full of quilty eye candy ;). I definitely want to try quilting with perle cotton! Thanks for such a fantastic giveaway! Xo Laura
ReplyDeleteYes, I have hand-quilted a few quilts with perle cotton and I love the big, colorful stitches. My last project was a log cabin baby quilt done all in polka dots with different colored thread. So much fun! I will definitely do more quilts this way.
ReplyDelete1000 followers is amazing, and I'm not surprised because your blog is always a great place to visit. I have hand quilted with perle cotton, and love the effect, especially on solids.
ReplyDeleteand- your mini quilt is super cute!
Lynne
I have not tried quilting with perle cotton but you are pretty much 100% responsible for me wanting to try it!! :) It's definitely on my list!! :)
ReplyDeleteyour blog is such an inspiration! thanks for continuing to share despite a difficult year!!
Congratulations on 1000 followers! I learn so much from your blog and am always inspired. I have done a lot of machine quilting but have not tried hand quilting yet. I am hoping to give it a try on the doll quilt that is paired with the quilt you are making from the book. I think when I do try to hand quilt I use perle cotton because I want to be just like you!
ReplyDeleteI just can't really imagine winning this giveaway. It is too good to be true.
I have only used perle cotton once on a mini quilt but I really enjoyed using it as I love how handstitching looks. Thanks for the chance to win you lovely mini.
ReplyDeleteYou know I've loved your stitching since I first found you and it's awesome that 999 other people have too Mary! Yes, I'm quilting my king size Single Girl with perle cotton and am enjoying the process.

ReplyDeleteLove. Trish
ps. Your give a way is just precious. :0)
Ohhh, this is so on my to do list- it just scares me so bad!
ReplyDeleteMary, I have followed your lovely blog since there were less than a hundred followers. I love turning to you for inspiration. I have always preferred hand quilting to machine quilting. You are the reason I tried stitching with perle cotton and I love it! Congrats on 1000 followers. Here's to another 1000.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary! Congrats on your success! I love your blog very much...look at it everyday! The little quilt is so darling, I have the perfect place for it...I'd love to win!!
ReplyDeleteYour blog has been a favourite of mine for inspiration. I have used perle cotton in a quilt to add some special dimension, but haven't used it to do a whole quilt.I do love the relaxation hand quilting provides though! Thanks for a lovely giveaway.
ReplyDeletewhat a sweet and generous giveaway. :) i usually quilt with quilting cotton thread or embroidery floss. in the past perle has felt too thick for me...but i might just give it a go again. congrats on 2 years and over 1000 followers! your blog is one of my inspiration stops...
ReplyDeleteWow! I have a tiny bit of hand quilting with perle cotton and plan to do more
ReplyDeleteYou deserve all 1000! I have bought some perle cotton and a needle that might fit, but so far I've been convinced I'll ruin my quilt because surely I'll have uneven stitches, try to take them out, and leave big holes. I've got to get over this!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried hand quilting with perle yet, but it is on my to do list. I've been seeing a lot of examples on the Internet and I really like the way it looks. Thank you for the chance to win your great giveaway. Your mini quilt and the pincushion are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'm just starting to use perle and love it!! Your blog was my big inspiration to get me to try it. Thanks for sharing your gorgeous work.
ReplyDeleteYes! I loving adding splashes of color using perle. I have yet to hand quild a full-sized quilt, but love the impact. Congrats on the landmark and thanks for the inspirational blogging.
ReplyDeleteAh, Mary~ your embroidery is so sweet---I usually use the DMC floss (have tons left from when I first did counted cross stitch back in the 80's). But I did venture into perle cotton just recently and it was decent.
ReplyDeleteYour mini quilt turned out so darling! Love those flying geese and how the stitching just sets them off so well!
Congrats, too, on getting 1000 followers! Yea!
(AND---Go Buckeyes!)
Your creative sewing always makes us smile, me, mostly becuz' I rarely do hand stitching. Your work is beautiful, and to own a piece of it would be wonderful. Thank you for your generousity ~
ReplyDelete:-}pokey
Love everything you post!! I haven't tried the hand quilting yet, but I do want to try it on my next quilt!!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary! You taught me how to hand quilt with perle! I am working on a quilt now as a wedding gift and am planning on hand quilting. Looking forward to taking another class with you soon!
ReplyDeleteA 1000!!! So so wonderful! I adore your site and love your work....you know I have quilted and done embroidery for years and I have never used perle cotton! I don't know why ...but now I will have to!! Thanks for all your lovely posts !! Your a love!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blog birthday and 1000 followers. Your blog and your quilting are such an inspiration for me and I hope to be reading it for a long time to come. I tried using perle cotton once to quilt my Christmas stars quilt. It looks beautiful but the process was not fun and hurt my fingers. I want to give it another try and would love some advice as to the weight of the cotton and type of needles to buy to avoid some of these problems.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful give away. Thank you. I love to hand stitch using perle cotton threads. I love the texture if gives my project. I am currently making a Medallion Quilt and one of the borders is completely hand stitched usin perle cotton. I am taking the hanstitched class by Rachel over at a Stitch in Color.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I think I've quilted with perle cotton, but only on a mini or two. Hand stitching doesn't work so well for me these days because it always makes me have problems with my hand the next day. But I always think hand stitching is so lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteMary, you have been a big inspiration to me and I am sooooo glad that I can count myself as one of your bloggy friends who you have met up close an personal.
ReplyDeleteHappy blogiversary!! I sure hope that you pick my name for that cute quilt. I haven't tried hand-quilting with perle cotton but it's on my "someday" list.
1000 - wow and congrats! You have a beautiful blog and I love seeing your projects.
ReplyDeleteI haven't quilted yet with perle cotton...just done some stitching on zippered pouches. But I have been buying it cuz I *do* intend on quilting with it some day! :)
I have wanted to try hand quilting with perle cotton for a long time. Maybe you have given me the courage to try!
ReplyDeleteI have loved your quilts with the perle cotton. In fact because of your blog I took a "Big-Stitch" class last February at a quilt retreat. I completed the cutest quilt ever using the Big-Stitch, a few months ago.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the fun blog!
Mary, I love your blog. It is a real inspiration to me. I've quilted once with the perle cotton. It will take some more practice to make my stitches a little more even. In the meantime, I have been quilting Baptist Fans with regular quilting thread on EVERYTHING. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried hand quilting, and I'm not sure if I really have the patience for it. I love the way it looks though.
ReplyDeleteI don't hand quilt but I wouldn't mind giving it a try on a small scale, or in addition to machine quilting. Love that little mini<3
ReplyDeleteYour blog is one of my favorites, and I do admire your charming, distinctive, exquisite style. Yes, I love to quilt with perle cotton. I especially loved some Valdani variegated that I found.
ReplyDeletecongrats! i love your blog! I haven't quilted with Pearl cotton, but I have embroidered quilts with it pre-quilting. I'd like to hand quilt a pillow or something...start small
ReplyDeleteHi Mary! I love hand quilting and usually I use DMC floss. I'm not an expert and during these days I'm trying to quilt by machine without the right foot with a zig zag to start learning by myself this technique. It's nice, but hand quilting is the best , a looong time job for a snail like me, but really the best. Thank you for the chance to win your quilt. Barbara from Italy
ReplyDeleteI have three or four balls of Perle cotton, but I HAVE NEVER TRIED THEM! Duh. I'm not sure why not. I just like thread so much I guess.
ReplyDeleteWhat a super little quilt, full of your signature stitching. I have been following your blog for a long while, it enchants and inspires me. I also use Perle cotton for quilting in a lot of my quilts. Love the extra interest it adds.
ReplyDeleteKeep on blogging, I love reading your posts and gazing at your awesome photos.
Linda on travjonuk@yahoo.com
Congratulations! I'm only a newish follower but I much enjoy reading your posts and seeing what delights you've made. I've inherited(fought my sister for them) a whole bunch of Perle cottons from my Mum. I've done a little stitching with them on a mini quilt but no quilting, yet!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Mary!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE to hand quilt with perle cotton...
; )
Such a lovely time following you! I have only used perle cotton a few time but fell in love instantly. Way better than the other stuff i used to make friendship bracelets.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary - from Down Under - I have used Perle cotton on at least 2 quilts - I made a Postage Stamp quilt (1" squares) & the quilt measures 90" x 100" - I could only hand quilt with dark green perle cotton - it's on our kingsize water bed (we are a hangover from the 70's) & it's great. Love using perle cotton.
ReplyDeleteAw, congratulations Mary, the pleasure through blogging has been mutual, I love visiting with you. Your little quilt is divine, thank you for the chance to win something specia. I adore perle quilting, I've done it on a few quilts. After seing yours, I want to try for bigger stitches!
ReplyDeleteIt has been an honour to get to know you Mary! Love everything you do and am so inspired each visit! Keep it up I love it so!
ReplyDeleteWow - something made by you is the best sort of giveaway! Would be so thrilled if I won!
I have quilted one quilt with cotton perle - my Galaxy one and I love it. My finger was pretty sore after as I just don't get on with a thimble and the perle needs a thicker needle - the fabric was all recycled so it was soft and I finished quickly because I found it such a treat! I really should do another!
Hi Mary & Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy following your blog - its full of quirky inspiration... which I just love!
I have admired perle quilting, but haven't tried it as yet as I would need to get it online - but it really does look lovely :)
HI, parabens pelos 2 anos de Blog e o numero 1.000 de seguidores, você merece, seu blog é bonito e inspirador.
ReplyDeleteJá fiz uma colcha de 2.50 x 2.50 com quilt a mão, adorei.

I absolutely LOVE quilting with Pearle cotton! I get it in the boxes of threads at the thrift shops or in the many pretty colors they sell at our quilt shops!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspirations- I love your blog!
Mary,
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the time to blog and Share you creations with us!
My intention to try Perle is to use it as soon as my Big hexie Top is done. It'l be my first attempt in hand quilting, so I' m a tad intimidated.
Quilting hugs from across the pond,
Anne
Congratulations on 1000 followers. I took a big-stitch quilting class using perle cotton. But have only done some practice stitching since. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteWow! Congratulations on 1,000! You go girl! Love the mini-quilt. In my previous quilting life, 10+ years ago, I'd never heard of perle cotton. I got back into quilting a few years ago and I'd love to try my hand at it. I'm using some perle cotton for embroidery on a quilt and enjoying it. If--no, WHEN--I finish the hexagon quilts I'm working on, I'd like to hand quilt the with perle cotton since I don't seem to too fast with the regular quilting cotton.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I haven't tried quilting with perle cotton, I am not very good at hand quilting but have been thinking that perle cotton may be more forgiving than traditional quilting.
ReplyDeleteI haven't yet quilted with cotton perle (I do most of my hand quilting in regular sewing thread) but I have hand quilted with coton a broder and I loved it!
ReplyDeleteHi, I just found your blog.I actually love hand sewing so I hand sew and hand quilt all my quilts...needless to say it takes me quite a few years to finish each one. I have never quilted with perle cotton or every come across any one who does ...till now..so i guess I'm going to have to investigate!
ReplyDeleteI have never tried hand quilting before but I love the look and may get up the nerve to try it. I truly enjoy your blog - very inspiring (and you're a fellow Ohioan!). Thanks for a fantastic giveaway!
ReplyDeleteellen(at)myerly(dot)net
Congrats on reaching 1000 followers! Your creations are inspiring!!
ReplyDeleteI've never quilted with perle cotton. I'm really, really new to quilting altogether, and choosing easy projects to get my feet wet. The idea of hand quilting scares the socks off me. :P
You are a true inspiration. I did my first quilting with pearl cotton this year on a pillow. I loved it and look forward to doing it again. Congrats on the milestone of 1,000.
ReplyDeleteMary, I so love coming to your blog and admiring all the beautiful projects you work on as well as get some really great tutorials. I would love to win the mini, it's totally gorgeous, thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI hand quilted my granny square quilt using perle cotton and I loved it. I found it easy to sew with and I really love the way it looks and adds such a wonderful charm to the whole project.
I have not yet quilted with Pearl Cotton yet, but your blog has inspired me to try! I did order some in a netural color and plan on stitching my hexi quilt with it!
ReplyDeleteI've never used pearl cotton but, I'd love to try! This mini is gorgeous!

I'd love to try handquilting with perle but am not sure, which size is good. You know no. 3 or 5 or 8 ???
ReplyDeleteThank you for the opportunity to win this generous giveaway :-9
I would love to try quilting with perle cotton, your hand quilting is stunning! awolk at rogers dot com
ReplyDeleteYour mini quilt is so cute! I haven't tried quilting with pearle cotton yet. But I am working on some projects that will be perfect for this.
ReplyDeleteI quilted a king-sized rail fence with perle cotton. It's lovely and we use it this time of year since it is many shades of red, cream and blue.
ReplyDeleteSo much inspiration and talent! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI only did it for a wall quilt one time, but I loved doing it!
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I found your blog quite by accident but have really been enjoying it. I made a quilt for my step-brother's son who lives in South Korea and felt that it still needed a little something. When I saw what you were doing with perle cotton stitching, I knew that is what I had to do. Love it!
ReplyDeleteOh to have one of your sweet minis would be so awesome!! Great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI started hand quilting last year and can't go back to being hunched over my machine sweating it out and tugging, pulling and swearing at the tension. Ahhhhh .... quiet evenings on the couch with my family around me and soothing stitching is quite the contrast. I use either perle cotton 8 or 12 if I want a finer, smaller stitch.
