Stitching Away!

Where does the time go?
The beginning of April has been filled with a good deal of sewing and a lot of dodging the flu!

I have continued to work on my hexie project...

And the 'January blocks'...

Excuse the lighting...Ohio has had very few cloudless days lately!

And I picked up a neglected top.

I thought I would quilt this quirky little improv Bow-tie...but I need more batting...and so it waits..again :)

I love this little quilt and the pops of color! I think some organic straight line quilting might be just perfect. Now to get that batting!

I also changed the comment section on my blog so that I can reply within the comment section. I haven't decided yet if I like the change, but I noticed that some comments aren't sent to my email. I think it has something to do with Google plus...not sure. If anyone has had a similar experience or you know another option I would love to hear!
 happy thursday!

  2. Not sure about your comment box...maybe I could pop around and have a look at your Blogger settings?!! You have such pretty projects on the go Mary, all with happy pops of yellow! I need some more yellow in my life, so as soon as I finish quilt the Triangles, I may have to start something with yellow in it!

  4. I love your stitching projects!! The circular block pattern looks very difficult, what is the name of that block? Have you blogged about it before?

    1. I have blogged about it just briefly. It is called the January block by Lady Harvatine . She has a blog and can also be found on IG. You can purchase the templates for the block from her shop. Hope that helps!

  5. I always love to see your WIPs! I know all about needing batting, too!! As for the comments not going to your email.....I struggled with that almost a year, many of my comments were not making it to various places. I do not think it is google plus, tried that. I ended up changing my email from a yahoo acct to a gmail account, and that has solved it for me. A little bit of hassle, but my emails don't get rejected anymore. I went to my blogger settings and changed the email associated with it to the gmail and haven't had a single reject since! :) so I don't think the problem is on your end...it is a yaho and yahoo user problem. Apologies if this isn't very clear!!

  6. How did you do the bowties? They are adorable and I'm looking for ideas for Doctor Who quilt for my hubs.

    1. Ella, I simply cut rectangles from my background fabric larger than I needed. I sewed them to the print at an angle similar to the process Gwen Marston illustrates in her books Liberated Quiltmaking. I stitched two of these triangle units together so the points are matching and trimmed the block to square it up. Each block is a different size. To put it together, I 'filled in' the spaces with the same backg round fabric. I hope that helps! Maybe I should do a quick tutorial?

  10. I love that you will be answering comment questions in the comment section! So many times another commenter asks a great question, but I never know if the post was abandoned & not answered or if it was answered in private by email.
    Keep up the great work!

    1. I agree! It is nice to see a reply if you have the same question. Although, I got on here tonight to check for any that didn't get through to my email and I found two spam comments. ugh. It is all a bit frustrating at times, isn't it? LOL!

  12. You always make the most wonderful things! I find I don't get email notifications from some bloggers, the yahoo theory is interesting, it could be that.

  13. I hope that you, indeed, did dodge the flu. Love all of your projects! I notice that I don't get a few comments. Does this mean that I need to go to your blog to see your replies when i leave a comment?

  14. Love your bow tie quilt, those pops of colour on white are so cheerful!
I've found that comments on my blog from yahoo accounts don't make it to my email, but usually replies in the blog don't make it to the email of the original commenter unless they actively sign up to receive comments on that post by email (e.g. by ticking "notify me" box). I like reading general answers to questions in the comments section of the blog, but rarely check back on a blog post to see if I've got a reply to a comment I made. And as for signing up to every post I've left a comment on, that would just be too much. It's hard to get it right for all situations, I suppose.
