We Are Back! And Just In Time!

Well, that was fun...I wasn't sure if I had totally messed something up with my Blogger Account, but hopefully all is fixed and the fun can begin!

What fun, you ask????
That clever Amy holds her festival twice a year....to coincide with Quilt Market....
It is easy to join in on the fun!  So be sure to head over to Amy's!

Here is my entry for the Spring Festival...

Gypsy Kisses!!!!

This is a pattern by Kathy Doughty from Material Obsession 2.  It is a pickle-dish, one of my very favorite designs.

I think I love this so much because it combines all of my favorite elements.  The use of light and dark, and high contrast fabrics.  Inherent in the design is lots of movement with these long spokes that swirl around and are connected by four large squares.  Pickle-dish just screams vintage so I was able to play with lots of vintage looking fabrics....including this fabulous Betty Dear for the background...

Along with the bright bright fabrics, adding black to a quilt is always key for me.  The large black and white eyes with the smaller black and white binding gave this quilt an added punch!

Two sides have a piano key border.  And I hand quilted it with red and black perle cotton.

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the Festival!

I love your quilt so much, the background fabric is so lovely that when you posted this the first time, I bought some for me. I love the pickle dish pattern a lot and the way you quilted it really suits the quilt.

Enchanting! Thank you so much for sharing this at the Festival. I've been toying with the idea of making a Double Wedding Ring quilt for an anniversary (don't ask which one, could be our 100th by the time I get to it), but your quilt convinces me that Pickle Dish is a better choice!

Wow, you definitely need to send a photo to the designer, I think she'll be quite impressed. Kudos what a striking, graphic quilt and the perle quilting is delightful.

LOVE IT! A pickle dish is now on my official list of things to make. :) Thanks for identifying the background fabric. I think it is great - I am always scared to use a strong background, I usually go with white, but Betty Dear is perfect. Thank you for sharing!

I have so enjoyed the quilt festival, but this is the first quilt I've been moved to comment on.... WOW! This is stunning! I have been quilting for, oh, almost 20 years and I feel myself leaving my "prairie" fabrics behind and heading in the style direction of this very quilt! So inspiring-- thank you!
