Check One Off....Ho Ho HO!

Finished....

my little Christmas Tree's bottom will be fully covered this Christmas...

I used white muslin for the background fabric....added wonky houses, trees, packages...even a little dog house....
I outlined the houses, trees with free motion sketching....added bows to the packages and a couple of little stars....the entire skirt is quilted in a swirly pattern...

It is bound with red polka dot...with loops and buttons....
I added large pom-poms all around the bottom and the top center circle....

The diameter is about 47 inches....

And dresses my apple tree nicely....

And best of all...
It doubles as a Christmas skirt for Molly!!!

Works well with the Offspring T-shirt ...don't you think?
OR....
It can be a Christmas super-hero cape for Kyle...

Aren't they sweet?!
Happy Friday All!
mary

**Edit**  No pattern involved here {as you may be able to tell}  I just used the old pencil and string trick to get the larger circle....a plate for the center circle....

This is so fantastic! Are all the houses and trees and such appliqued on there? How did you create the white skirt part. i know that probably sounds like a dumb questions. i have no idea how to sew. i can quilt but anything beyond that...well that's another story! i need to make a tree skirt for my tree and this is the best one I've seen! I guess I could scour the web to find a pattern for the skirt part and then do the applique. I really love this!

Your tree skirt turned out so well! That pattern is on my to-do list for later in the summer. My sister in law and I are getting together next month to make tree skirts. Seeing yours has made me even more excited about this project. I love all the personal touches you added to yours, and the pom poms are just perfect! YAY! for a really wonderful finish!!

Mary it turned out great! Won't you be so happy to put that under the tree this Christmas. Leaves you plenty of time to sew presents! :)

I love it! I have had a tree skirt like this planned since last Christmas. Makes me want to get started :) However, I might need a lesson form you to quilt it...ha!

Wonderful finish - especially those pom poms! Your kids are so co-operative! I'm not sure the tree will get it's skirt - or maybe now you know what to make your kids as present for Christmas....???

This looks so good! Fresh and colourful. Love all the designs you have made. What a shame you have to wait for Christmas to use it. Make sure it's out really early so you can see it for a while before the presents are piled up.
It's stunning!!
