Stitch by stitch....

Been doing a lot of hand work lately...
embroidery, EPP, and applique...
hand work makes you slow down...time to think.

That can be good. Time to work out issues while creating something sweet.
I am still working with Dresden's and Aneela Hoey's Cherry Christmas fabric...

adding some embroidery and lovely perle cotton colors....

It is good to be able to work without the sewing machine.  Although, as I think dream about the many quilts I would love to tackle...I decided to give this little block another try.  I love this block {called Odds and Ends in some circles}....
I just appeals to me....very vintage.

It takes some fiddling, but well worth it {although mine is not perfect}.  I just love this block.
In these dog days of summer are you taking some time to slow down?  Working on any hand work?
Happy Tuesday!

  1. I'm on a 'go slow' too! Like you I'm concentrating on my many hand stitching projects! I was only looking at your other'Odds and Ends' block the other day- I love it! It would make a fabulous quilt!

  4. oh, your projects are simply stunning, as usual. I've also slowed down with a lot of hand sewing lately but my main reason is my kids' swimming lessons. Yep, I'm that weir mom sitting by the pool, doing EPP. My younger kids don't mind, but my oldest one tries to stay away from me as much as possible.

  5. Slowing down sounds a perfect thing to do. I do try, but I'm always so impatient to see what the finished thing will look like. Wish I could make and stitch shapes as beautiful as yours.

  6. Slowing down is a great idea. I love visiting your blog to see your hand work. Lately I've been doing hand work in the evenings. Crochet is what my hands have been doing.
I've been waiting patiently for perle cotton to go on sale online at Joann so I can stock up. I never seem to have the color I need.
