Baby Making....

Okay...did I get your attention?  Trust me, that ship has sailed!

I have two very special people expecting their own bundle of joy in the next couple of months.

For the last several months I have been planning, cutting and stitching a baby quilt for the sweetest girl I have ever known.  She is a co-worker, but so much more than that.  A true friend.  I have often thought to myself that I would love to be more like her.  She is so serene...an inner beauty...calm...peaceful.

Stitching a special quilt for her little guy was a pleasure...

I saw the nursery before it was an official nursery...so I had an idea of the color scheme.  I thought something simple but graphic would fit right in...

Clean lines....using moda crossweaves...

of course, hand quilted with perle cotton....Valdani, of course!

and on the back, organic fabric in the most adorable dog print..
and a special label for the little guy...washed and dried for  soft, crinkle, wrinkle goodness!

 happy baby, Janelle!

The next little guy...is my own kin...another great nephew...a brother to Enzo!

His mommy is dressing the nursery in a lovely grey and off white.  Fluffy clouds add a calming touch...

so cloud-making has commenced...for a mobile

I simply cut out cloud shapes from wool/rayon felt in both off white and slightly grey....and stitched with grey perle cotton...again Valdani!!!

they are lightly stuffed to give them just the right amount of fluffiness...stayed tuned for the finished project.

Baby, baby!

happy wednesday!

  23. Love seeing the baby-makin's you're up to. I have two great nieces having girls in the next few months, and it's SO fun to make girl-y quilts... after having had three grandsons, myself. The simple colors of the quilt for Janelle's baby are perfect, especially with the perle cotton big stitch accent. Wish we had a quilt shop in the region - at all! - let alone one that stocked Valdani. Quilters here in our city of 102,000-plus people are simply deprived. In any case, I enjoyed seeing more (than IG) of your projects.

  24. Oh baby! Your blog post title is funny! :) Sewing is such a fun skill to learn, because it enables you to make handmade gifts. You are the most thoughtful and skilled gift-giver ever. These are both beyond sweet. I just love seeing what you are making, it always makes me so happy :)

  28. Oooh, fabulous! Both projects are! I love the quilt--the Moda crossweave is so pretty, and it doesn't scream baby quilt so the little guy will be able to use it when he's older. As always, I love your projects!
