They Are Here! Enjoy the Magic!

We have been pouring through the pictures from the wedding {the Wedding of the Century, as my daughter has dubbed it!}

I thought I would share a few with you....it was such a fun day!

Molly and Kyle were married on April 27th. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Upper Arlington, Ohio...

the flowers were mainly tulips....yellow and white....
the color scheme for the wedding was yellow, grey and white....

of course, my daughter, Molly, was the bride....but my other two daughters were bridesmaids...

Maggie was the maid of honor and the best man was the groom's brother....
the bridesmaids wore grey silk halter style dresses and yellow shoes...

my youngest daughter, Mary, was a bridesmaid....her escort was the groom's cousin....

I love the details....and the triple tied bridesmaids bouquet was a perfect detail.  We carried the same grey and white stripe french ribbon throughout the wedding and reception....

The brides bouquet...

 as much as I don't like being photographed....there was just no escaping it for this day....

there isn't a single picture with me looking forward...my head is always turned and I am chatting with someone!

And of course, the bride and her father!

and of course our sweet little ring bearer....Enzo!
the bow tie is Liberty!

the back of her dress....

and the bagpipes!

the wedding party!

the girls having fun!

the guys having fun!

the parents...

and the bride and groom...

the reception was held at The Walter Commons at St. Charles in Bexley Ohio...

the venue was gorgeous!

Molly worked with a wonderful cake designer...it was as delicious as it was beautiful....

we had a fiddler....

and flowers....

candles....

entrances and dancing....

good friends and remembering all those who came before us...

it was a wonderful day...

and it all began with a honey bee...

Waiting for Max....

The quilt is finished and washed...
I feel you have been given most of the details...
The design is my own...

The clouds are needle turn applique...a knit waffle fabric....lots of texture.

The quilting is hand quilted with Linen thread and some perle cotton {Valdani}

The backing fabric is a Japanese velveteen from Kokka...

and the label is on the front!

Baby's first and middle name {lets hope mom and dad don't change their minds}

Maxwell August and the year of his birth 2013....

here are the final pictures...

Cloudy With a Chance Of Maxwell....

I feel this short post deserves a wee preamble...
This quilt began as a mobile. A mobile for a baby boy {yet to meet the world}. But even before it was a mobile it was a bumper pad extraordinaire. Gorgeous in it's simplicity...linen and puffy  boucle' yarn clouds usher baby to dream land.
This was my inspiration for the quilt....a quilt for Maxwell.

When I began developing this idea I knew I would want to use Essex linen for the body of the quilt.  Essex yarn dyed.
Then I decided to use Linen Thread for the hand quilting....

It is lovely thread and I adore the look, but I have to be honest...it was very difficult to hand quilt.  I think perhaps in a thinner weight it would work much better. But this was the first time I had used this thread.  I must say it is a beautiful look...

The binding is waiting to be attached so I hope to show you pictures of the completed quilt tomorrow!
and in just a few more days we hope the newest member of our family...Maxwell August will be snuggled under a quilt of clouds.
